HEALTHY EATING

You have probably heard your children talking about healthy snacks in school. Our School Council are extremely keen on ensuring that as a school we are following the governments revised Food Policy for schools. Children are to bring healthy snacks and drinks to school. No chocolate, sweets, crisps, juice, fizzy drinks etc. We want the children to make the right choices to ensure they live healthy lifestyles. The School Council representatives have already been busy discussing healthy snacks with their classes.

Suggestions for healthier snacks:-

Fruit and vegetables: Apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries, cherries, mango, pineapple rings, peaches, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, raisins, melon cubes, pomegranate, blackberries, pears, coconut, plums, apricots.

Other ideas: Any dried fruits, carrots, cucumber, pepper sticks, celery, olives, tomatoes, green beans, cheese, pretzels, fruit bar, seeds, granola, Babybel, yogurt bars, yoghurt, fruit strings, fruit shapes, fruit flakes, cereals: e.g. Cheerios, Shreddies, crackers, homemade plain popcorn.

Water in water bottles or flavoured water.  (Not juice)
