Our After School Club (ASC) has been running for 14 years. We give priority to children from Whaley Bridge Primary School but welcome children from other schools locally.
We are registered for a maximum of 40 children. To join the club, you will need to complete a registration form and pay an annual fee of £1.00 per family. We offer a range of care to suit the needs of parents and children.
Our latest OFSTED report (December 2016) said:
“The well-established key-person system helps children to form strong, trusting relationships with the staff. These help them to feel safe and secure and they have a strong sense of belonging. Children make good use of the school’s well-designed outdoor space and play equipment.”
Breakfast Club is available from 7:45 am-8:50am (start of school). It operates on a “drop in” basis. There is no need to book. A breakfast of cereal, toast and drinks is included for £4.50.
After breakfast children can draw, colour and play with a variety of board games. There are table football and table hockey games as well as Lego, chess, playing cards and creative activities such as seasonal card making to keep children busy and creative before school.
After School Club
After School Club runs from 3:30pm to 6:15pm (6:00pm on Friday) and bookings are required.
Tea is available at 4:30pm at an additional cost and offers a balanced and nutritious meal. Please speak to us if your child has any allergies or special dietary requirements.
£5.90 for collection before 5:15pm
£8:20 for collection after 5:15pm
£2:20 for tea
Children using the club for the first time will be collected from their classrooms and escorted to the club. In addition, children under 8 will continue to be escorted by a member of staff. The staff members have a uniform to ensure that ASC staff are easily identified when working within the school.
During their stay at the club we want the children to enjoy themselves. There are a variety of activities available each night including arts and crafts, soft play, construction toys, pool and table football, computer games, board games, sports sessions and creative play, or if they wish, a quiet corner where they may read or finish their homework.
Holiday Club and Inset days
Holiday club runs during school holidays and on Inset days. A wide range of activities are available and we have a schedule of exciting additional activities every day. We organise trips out to local places of interest and invite people in from the community to organise activities e.g. St John’s Ambulance, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Bikeability, and our local PCSO. It is an opportunity to make friends with other children from local schools. Children from 3 years old are very welcome and this warm and friendly environment helps prepare pre-schoolers for school life.
£25:00 for a full day (8am – 6pm)
£15:00 for half a day (8am – 1pm/1pm – 6pm)
£115:00 for a full week of full days
£70.00 for a full week of half day
Pre-bookable early drop off from 7:45am is available for £1:50 extra.
Payment directly by BACS is preferred but payments can also be made using cash, cheque or childcare voucher. Payments must be made on a weekly basis unless alternative arrangements have been made with the Manager to suit individual needs.
A cancellations charge (of the minimum fee) will be applied if less than 24 hours’ notice is given (other than for illness).
A late collection fee of £5.00 per child will be applied for each 15 minutes (or part of) will also be applied at ASC and Holiday Club.
Whaley Bridge After School Club is a not-for-profit organisation managed by a voluntary committee of parents and staff. It is not run or owned by the school and sessions are organised by the ASC manager.
All staff are fully checked, trained and have the necessary qualifications.
In accordance with OFSTED’s national standards we have a range of comprehensive policies such as child protection, special needs, behaviour and equal opportunities.
The Club is periodically inspected under OFSTED regulations. Our latest report in December 2016 labelled our care as “good” with only two minor administrative points preventing an “outstanding” (these have now been rectified). The report can be read here: http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY224439
We are always looking for new people to join the committee so please get in touch if you would like to help. This requires a very small amount of time each year but is essential for the management of the club. We can’t do this without you.
